About

Our Mission

Connecting Warriors and their families who live in the Greater Augusta area of Georgia and South Carolina (CSRA) with resources that improve their lives.

The Augusta Model

Augusta Warrior Project’s model is based on developing a proactive relationship with Warriors in order to prevent or mitigate life crisis by holistically addressing issues early and collectively with our partners.  Warrior assistance is coordinated by Augusta Warrior Project advocates.  Our collaborative relationships with local, state, and national organizations ensures the well-deserved support for our Warriors and their families.

Our Four-Step Plan

ConnectFind and link Warriors to the AWP network of resources.

EducateInform Warriors of the services and opportunities available to them.

AdvocateEnsure Warriors receive the support they have earned.

CollaborateWork with partners at all levels to facilitate total Warrior care.

Connect

Warrior Focus:  To know a Warrior has an issue, you must know the Warrior.

Regional Focus:  To know a community’s resources, you must know the community.

National Focus:   Connect to communities in order to raise greater awareness about the Augusta Model and collaborate with communities to advocate for their Warriors.

To solve the challenges our Warriors face, you must know how to harness all resources at the local, state, and national levels.  This is what the Augusta Warrior Project does; we connect our Warriors with resources.

Educate

Warrior Focus:   Educate our Warriors on services and opportunities that improve their quality of life.   We strive to help them become self-sufficient and successful.

Local Focus:   We live in an incredibly generous society.  By keeping our community informed and educated about both the challenges our Warriors face and the strengths they bring to a community, the community will continue to step forward in a multitude of ways to help.

National Focus:   With all the changes occurring at the state and federal level, what we know about our Warriors and their needs is essential in helping our leaders make decisions.

To create viable solutions to the chronic problems our Warriors face, all levels must be educated and encouraged to make change possible.   The more we know and teach each other, the more we can make deep rooted changes instead of just treating the symptoms.

Advocate

Warrior Focus:  While our Warriors learn to navigate all the resources, benefits, and opportunities we will advocate with them to make the processes more accessible and efficient.

Local Focus:  We advocate for greater awareness of our citizens, businesses, healthcare, non-profits, government organizations, and places of worship in order to improve our Warriors’ quality of life.

National Focus:  Nationally, AWP provides a voice for warriors and shares our model with other communities.   We want the Nation to know we are the standard for Warrior care.

Collaborate

Warrior Focus:   The Warrior must be part of every decision and action that affects them.

Local Focus:  Collaboration between local businesses , healthcare providers, non-profits, government organizations, and places of worship will improve the community and our Warriors’ quality of life.

National Focus:   From a phrase coined by Admiral Mike Mullen, the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, there is a “Sea of Goodwill” throughout the nation.  People and organizations want to help our Warriors.  Working together, we can harness this goodwill in order to improve our community and our Warriors’ lives.

Collaboration is key to the success of the AWP.     We keep the lines of communication open on all levels and bring our partners together to support the warrior cause.   Through building solid relationships with both our Warriors and our Community, it allows us to fill in critical gaps in care and opportunities.   There is always a solution, and we help them find it.
